Having attended 15 different schools throughout her K-12 education, she developed a resilience that has shaped her approach to life and work. After following the Grateful Dead for two and a half years, Brittany pursued her education at community college before transferring to Temple University, where she earned a Bachelor of Education degree.
Brittany's teaching career began in an underserved school in Southwest Philadelphia, where she made a significant impact, helping her students close achievement gaps in reading, math and science. In addition to her writing, Anne and her daughter, Maria Gibson, founded Coffee and Grief, a community initiative that includes a podcast and monthly reading series focused on grief. They also lead writing workshops on the topic. Together, this mother-daughter duo seeks to normalize discussions around grief and provide support for those navigating their own experiences of loss.
